Lake Ridge New Tech Schools Reviews
I like that the student body is using technology to prepare the students for the working world. I would like to see much more “group work” taking place in such a diverse school system to better prepare the students for learning to speak, talk and cooperate with one another across all gender and ethnic groups.
My kids have been in the school district all of their life except when I pulled them out to home school, and then went back. I like to see them get the head lice issue under control. That cost my family big time as I had 3 kids in the school, constantly getting. Most of the teachers were great, there are a few I did not care for. I think the uniform thing is over rated,as I believe kids learn better being comfortable. I don't like that they went New Tech at all. Parents really can't help their kids with homework,as most of it is now on the computer. I also don't like how notices are always last minute, website hasn't been updated nor has the high school calendar. So you never know what is going on. My daughter is a senior this year and the only thing I know so far is the date and time for graduation. Which is just a pain. We will not be returning this coming fall. So glad to be done with this school system!
Honestly, I liked the idea of the "New Tech" and "Project-Based Learning" models. They help students learn skills like communication, team work, and accountability from a young age. I just believe that the teachers and the students need to be into it more so that it's even more effective!
