Me and my family came from the Richland County School District and I've only attended two schools while being in the Kershaw County School District but I have to say compared to Richland County, Kershaw isn't that well. The diversity is very low at the schools, the food I would give a 5 out of 10, only specific sports are focused on, and the support for the students after high school should be better. The counselors rarely get involved in a students opinions, goals, or thoughts about after high school.
I went to an elementary, middle and high school in the Kershaw Country School District. I liked that there was a strong emphasis placed on developing reading and writing skills. I also appreciated the efforts that were put forth to instill environmental awareness into the students as well. There was also a wide variety of clubs that was offered that gave everyone an opportunity to join something that played to their strengths. Some changes that I would like to see in the district is some refurbishing in some of the schools. Many of them are poorly built and have issues such as major leaking. I would also like there to be more diversity awareness. I was a minority in the district and I have always felt like an outside because of it. I feel that there should be more emphasis placed on building a bridge between different ethnicities and races for a healthier school environment.
In particular with my school, the only issue I really have is the facility we stay in and some of the elementary schools aren't up to code. Our old school got hit by a tornado so we had to switch into a tiny building which isn't very much supportive of the number of students we have but it is what it is. The school's district is pretty good they made it where we have e-learning so if were out of school we can still do school work and it counts as a day work of work.
