Kerens Independent School District Reviews
Being in Kerens is a good experience, the teachers are welcoming and care about you, but there are many things I wish were different. As a student that likes to challenge myself I found that I wasn't able to access courses better able to serve my academic needs. When I wasn't in band or athletics I was put in unnecessary "remedy" classes for students falling behind just to fill the gap in my schedule. We weren't offered any AP classes as our school didn't fund them and found a limited amount of extracurricular events to be involved in. I do love my school, I just wish they had more to offer me.
The teachers were great and very friendly. The students were smart, but somewhat disrespectful. I was a member of the band and they made me feel like I was part of a family. I felt very welcomed into the organization. The overall experience was fun and all, but I felt that the school board's priorities were not in line with what I believed they should be.
My experience with Kerens Independent School District was overall decent. They are located in your average small town, so they make due with what they are given and they do pretty well. They are low in some areas such as clubs and activities, but that is common where the school is too small for any big clubs. But, some of their sports teams are known to be good, they have some athletes that could really do well if they put in the effort. The people can be nice and most teachers are happy to teach.
