Kennett High School is built on one principle, success. While the school itself offers high academics and resources to achieve so no student is above one another, it suffers from the problem of a lack of general safety protocol and faces the problem of stigma. There is nothing preventing any adult from walking into several of the main buildings from various entrances that are unlocked and unguarded. The problem of stigma is represented when one child acts out, if they are of a certain background, they are generally marked as troublemakers and no further reaching out or connection seems to be attempted and the student seems to disappear from class. A students unwillingness to corporate with becoming a model student doesn't equate to letting them slip through the cracks. Personal interest needs to be taken in those who struggle if the motto of the school is that Kennett Kids Succeed.
Kennett was a wonderful school to attend when I graduated nearly 15 years ago. Recently, however, things have not been so great. The teachers play obvious favorites with students, bullying is a serious problem, and administration does not back up parents when issues with students and/or teachers arise
At Kennett High School, I was able to express myself through the arts but also enhance my knowledge with the many different courses that is offered at the school. Each and every teacher was always so helpful and they encouraged everyone to be the best of their ability. The teachers cared for their students as if the students were their own. I was extremely lucky to be able to attend a school that cared for my education and my well- being.
