Kaneland overall is a decent school that has many downfalls. One of the best things about KHS is definitely the teachers; most of them build relationships with their students, care about their students' wellbeings, and give students a positive environment to learn in. The Student Services department is AMAZING! They have an amazing staff at their side and they show extreme support and
care for students' mental health. However, the administration and district office at KHS only do what they want--not what's best for their students. The money that goes to the school was never spent to benefit the students. The sports at Kaneland were extremely politically based, so if a student didn't fall into the "right spot" in coaches' minds they wouldn't ever play. One of the biggest problems at Kaneland is the drugs and violence of the students in school. Students use the bathroom to smoke weed, do drugs, and vape. Kaneland is definitely not the best school, but it's not the worst either.

The community at Kaneland has been very welcoming and strives to assist students daily. Although there are some poor teachers, the Kaneland school district makes up for it by having multiple high-quality teachers that put their all into their students education. However, something needs to be done about security. The security guards fail to disciple students that regularly wonder the halls during class time but will reprimand other students without cause. The problem isn’t constant but the inconsistent attitudes cause a divide between the students and the security.
For the past four years I have spent at Kaneland High School, my experience has been subpar. The staff doesn't take the appropriate actions to support their students and some of them don't treat us with respect as they have said they would, or how you think a mentor figure would act towards their students. There is little to no encouragement for students to mix within social groups, and the lack of organization is through the roof. There has been a total of three times now that my english class hasn't had a substitute teacher while ours was out, and classrooms have been double booked. Overall, Kaneland needs to work on their staff, organizational skills, and encouragement.
