Johnston Community School District Reviews
Johnston High School has consistently been rated a top school in Iowa for their high academic standards, and the majority of students are very motivated and set high goals for themselves. The staff are very involved and dedicated to the students. The amount of clubs and organizations is quite high, the music and sports departments are competitively excellent and facilities are top-notch. There is a fair amount of diversity in the student body.
The school is brand new, only 3 years old, very nice and comfortable. The teachers work hard and are respectful to the kids. The school ipads are very helpful. The counseling office has amazing help to apply to college. I would say many students are ready to go to college after attending Johnston, the teachers and staff know how to push students to succeed. There are some negatives though, there is a lot of bullying that happens behind screens on the ipads and over social media, but it's like that at many schools. The school itself is beautiful and you can tell its worth 82 million dollars. The facilities are top of the line, a new stadium, the weight room, and the gym are wonderful.
While the academics, facilities, and beyond high school opportunity at Johnston is strong, its diversity, student body morale, staff attitude and administration could be more open towards developing a more compassionate, open, caring, diverse environment for its minority staff and students.
