Jefferson Township High School is an average school. The classes they have only prepare you for scientific or mathematical careers. Most of the teachers aren’t that amazing or helpful. The social scene is very limited with the dances and events very satire. The coaches of the sports teams are very selective with people, mostly having their favorites achieve varsity while leaving the rest to figure it out themselves. The school lunches are average, the lunch staff is really sweet and caring. Sometimes they offer special lunches like having ice cream waffle day. The school charges for extracurricular using a pay to play method, totaling 200 per kid. The guidance is never there when you need them and when people bully you they do nothing about it. Overall this school is nothing special but you have to make the most of your time there.
The School’s priorities are not where they should be. The guidance department completely changes every year and are poor in quality as far as building schedules and preparing students for college applications. There are some good teachers and some bad teachers. There are not enough challenging courses available. The issues with the high school really start at the middle school. The middle school is poorly organized which influences students to leave the district. This decreases enrollment in the high school and this funding. A decrease in funding means student have to pay more for everything and the quality is worse. Specifically, students have to pay more for sports and clubs, but the sports and clubs have less money for equipment and activities.
I really enjoyed JTHS. The teachers for the most part are helpful and easy to talk to. The other students in my grade were all nice, sure there are always cliques, but really no bullying went on in my grade. My school is very serious about stopping bullying.
The teachers and administrators went out of their way to make us graduating seniors feel special since we missed out on so much this year. They made this pandemic somewhat bearable.
I would recommend JTHS to anyone and I am happy I had a wonderful experience there!
