The experiences that my son liked the most are the large quantity of classes that are offered. They offer several AP and dual credit on the high school campus being taught by teachers he is familiar with. He didn't have to drive to a college campus or satellite campus to take them. The school has a large variety of elective classes, clubs, and sports to choose as well. He has been heavily involved in marching band and jazz band throughout his high school career. The teachers are always willing to go above and beyond to help with what ever needs students have. His experience at Jackson High School has been great!
I absolutely love my school. I could not ask for more supportive teachers, counselors, and coaches. Each class I have been enrolled in has been top-notch at Jackson R2. The best aspect of my school district is the school spirit we all bring. Everyone is invested in coming to all the sports events and cheering on our school. There are so many clubs and organizations to get involved in Jackson that many schools in our area do not have the privilege of having. I moved from a small school to a large school at Jackson where I had more opportunities to get involved in my community and to take classes through Southeast Missouri State University that will transfer to Arkansas State University when I attend next fall. The only thing I would critique about Jackson R2 is the longer class periods. We are doing block scheduling right now and I preferred the regular eight hours a day schedule.
Jackson is an amazing school district! It’s number one priority is education, but Jackson makes the high school experience memorable. The student council is very involved, both with the school and the community. The community rally’s around Jackson sports and their band. It’s amazing to see how inclusive Jackson is!
