My overall experience in the Jackson City School District was insightful and eye opening. The actual classroom part was challenging and good for me when it came to preparing me for high level classes. There were many strict rules that prevented kids from expressing themselves in their own way. The leadership at the top of the district was good and it trickled down to the lower levels. Most of the teachers actually cared about you as a person and not just as a student. The one main problem with Jackson is that the administrators spend so much time trying to prepare you for life after high school that you don't get to have as much fun as other high schools and you are forced to deal with rules that are sometimes too strict and ruin a part of your life that you should be allowed to enjoy before you enter the real world.
Coming from small town Appalachia, our district would be labeled as poor and not useful. We demolish the stereotype by offering a multitude of AP and college-prep courses, clubs of many sorts, and academic and athletic necessities to increase confidence and knowledge about future plans and institutions.
