Itasca had great potential but fell short. Being a smaller school you would think that they would focus on their students more, you would be incorrect. I was severely underprepared for a college education right out of high school. I did well in my academic studies, however, if my mother hadn't been there to help guide me I would've never figured it out. That makes it even more upsetting for the current and future students of Itasca ISD. There are many students who don't have the parental guidance i was lucky enough to have. There is even a foster community right on the outskirts of town. Those students have little guidance and itasca doesn't help in that situation.
The Itasca Independent School District is all I have ever known in terms of school. It's a small school with the High School population overall being around 200 students. Although many may be surprised and not know what to think of such a small class size I happen to like it a lot. There's little drama among my classmates, the teachers are usually happy and well connected with their students, and the staff are genuinely good people with a desire to see the future generations grow an prosper.
I am currently attending Itasca High School, and am a senior. I love this school for many reasons, one of them being that they genuinely care. Whether it be the staff or the students they are all respectful and are willing to help. As well as being respectful, the school district manages its money very well, they make a point to focus on the students to help them succeed and achieve their goals without burdening them. Although they are all close like a family, they are always open to newcomers and are gladly ready to "adopt" them when the time comes. Me being one of those cases, I have moved frequently therefore I have attended multiple different schools, and yet have never felt more at home than here. I am so glad that I ended up at Itasca High School and would highly recommend it to anyone, I wouldn't trade the time I've spent here for any other school in the world.
