Iowa Valley is a very small school located in a very small town. Everybody knows everybody and (at least for me) if you didn’t know someone personally you at least recognized them in the hallways. The teachers are all very laid back, and they do what they can to make sure that their students succeed. The classes that are offered are vast, and they even include dual enrollment classes for a community college nearby. The staff is always helpful, and the school as a whole is a great place to get a good high school education.
Iowa Valley is a very tight-knit community. The teachers (for the most part) do their best to make sure that students succeed in school. For the size of school, there is a nice variety of extracurricular activities and sports. The school could do better with encouraging diversity, but I feel like this is a common issue in small, rural schools. The school has done a nice job in integrating technology into the classroom, with every student 6-12th grade having a Chromebook for schoolwork.

Education is one thing that nobody can take away from you. This seems like a pretty simple concept, but it was not something that I necessarily understood when I began my high school career a few years ago. The idea that an education will follow me the rest of my life is something I am learning and appreciating as I plan for my future. I am also learning that it is easy to look back with regret. For example, when I first started high school, I did not understand the importance of “good grades”. My grades certainly showed that my first year of high school. However, as I have matured and developed more responsibility, I now realize how taking school and my grades seriously will influence my future. While regretting something is easy, learning from it and applying it to your future is more difficult.
