As a current student at Interboro High School, I can see the students' and instructors' desperate need for change. Since I've begun going there, I've seen many professors and administration prioritize students' mental health over all else. Teachers make it a mission to ensure that their kids have all they need in life before they graduate from high school. The administrators at this school who are executing the transformation are highly regarded in the community. They sit and listen to the voices of the community before making any decisions, and they always keep the best interests of the community in mind. Interboro High School's employees and associates have my highest appreciation and respect.
At Interboro Highschool , there´s a big sense of community. Iv´e met some amazing people here, some of them I intend to be lifelong friends with. The problem lies with the curriculum and some of the teachers , the studies are mostly memory based and does not pertain to a actual measure of intelligence. Teachers are more focused on grades rather then the well being of the students sitting in front of them. Not to mention there is a prominent social hierarchy here, teachers seem to gravitate towards the needs of the outgoing students so much more. I am lucky enough to have friends who love me and it make me feel a lot less alone but I can only imagine what those few students who go through the day invisible feel. Some of the teachers here are amazing and I truly believe they want the best for their students, others make me question if i´m a failure but on the inside I am someone who is fearless to dive into new opportunities.
I have been in the Interboro school district since I was in kindergarten. After going to the Kindergarten Academy, I went to Glenolden Elementary. I went there from 1st to 8th grade. One of my favorite things that Interboro School District does is they send their advanced 8th grade math students to the High School for math class. There are 2 reasons why I like this. My first reason is that math is my favorite subject and the subject that I am best at. My second reason is that it gave me the opportunity to see what the High school was like before I went there. I was able to learn the layout and meet some of the teachers which made me more confident when I started my freshman year. I have also really enjoyed my high school experience. This year has had its challenges but I feel like the district has done a great job preparing us for virtual learning and it has gone pretty smooth so far. I look forward to continuing my education after high school.
