I liked how the teachers were able to help me and many others discover different ways to learn. While also preparing us for our future careers. They have helped me explore different career aspects in my chosen field of study. By learning what I excel and do not excel in I have gotten a better grasp at what specific career I would be looking to continue studying. The one thing I'd like to change in the school system is having the different career paths work together as a team to simulate real world interactions, for example having the business students work with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Medical(STEM) students to raise money for the school while also furthering their understanding of their respected careers. While the STEM students create some products to sell, the business students would deal with the business side of things to help raise money for the school and also furthering their education in their respected careers. While also simulating real world interactions.
The teachers are very well educated and want what is best for the students however the administration does not seem to care. With what is happening in the world today the student's and teacher's safety does not seem to be a concern for anyone at a higher level in the school district. With cases being at an all-time high for this area they insist on bringing back everyone and not informing anyone they have been in contact with someone who has covid. The way the students find out is by texting their friends asking if they are okay, then they find out the truth and wonder what they should do. The teachers are absolutely wonderful but the higher-level needs help.
The Independence School District has a very good educational curriculum, excellent extracurricular clubs and athletics as well as music and arts programs, a diverse student culture and successfully prepares students for college. However, bullying is prevalent in the district as I have been bullied myself and have witnessed other students be bullied as well. I also believe some staff and educators are unenthusiastic about their work and in some cases are rude and lazy. I would not say this district prioritizes students' safety either, as I have seen many of my peers become violent with one another as well as use and/or purchase weapons. Overall, I would give the district an average rating. Not the best, but not the worst.
