Hughson high school is located in a small town including with fewer students than most high schools, this means most students know one another. Because of Hughson schools smaller environment, the culture is very welcoming at Hughson you will have plenty of opportunities and will not be left out. The community that Hughson high is located in is also very involved in its traditions due to the small town feel, such as the annual halloween parade, the homecoming parade, the fruit and nut festival, the christmas parade, the trunk or treat, and many other things. The staff at Hughson is also able to help students more one on one and form better relationships with their students because classes are smaller than other schools. Overall if your looking for a one on one high school experience with a small cery involved community Hughson has so much to offer.
Hughson has the rural, small-town feel that I love when I go to school. The staff are easy to work with, and the smaller school sizes make it easier to get to know my peers. I transferred from Ceres schools to Hughson, and I'm so happy with this decision. The community is very tightly knit, and students in high school often get involved in the lower grades' classes and town activities. They have handled the COVID situation very well, and have put their students on hybrid learning. It still isn't ideal, but it's better than nothing, and the optimism and encouragement the district has shown is incredible. I'm very thankful I went to Hughson Unified and didn't stay in Ceres, because Ceres schools are still closed. I would recommend Hughson Unified to anyone who lived in the vicinity.
My overall experience with Hughson unified school district is the unfairness. Throughout my years at this school district you can see the economy status benefits. If you were rich and knew the teachers you saw how they treated you well. Well the kids that worked their hardest in class and won't very rich didn't get the acknowledge they should've gotten. Also races was a fact at this district if you were white you were acknowledge for your accomplishments. While if you were of a different race they didn't acknowledge you. Also not enough resources for education. Not enough programs for education only for agriculture. Which not every student wanted to do. Overall not enough resources for those that didn't want to a career for agriculture.
