If you have a child with special needs beyond speech therapy (the speech therapist is amazing there) DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD GO HERE!

Ive had only a few compassionate teachers, otherwise its been an uphill battle for years getting my kid what they need.

They try to push kids with special needs under the rug, or simply pass them off to one another. They are not compassionate in listening to the parents at all. There are alot of staff in positions they likely are not qualified for. It has gotten so far out of hand that we are selling our dream home to move somewhere else that is better suited to our child needs. Small town like this is small minded unfortunately. Kids whose families are from here seem to get what they need but outsiders get treated like lepers and find fault in those parents. Their communication one on one with parents leaves alot to be desired.

The Houston County School District is a great environment for somebody who is looking to have very interactive teachers who will do whatever they can to help you succeed. However, the school guidance counselor is not reliable and has messed up student grades, community service hours, and class rankings on multiple occasions.
Over the past four years I've been priveledged enough to receive many opportunities by this school. This includes band trips, competitions, classes for the program of study of I chose , and a variety of clubs to choose from. For me, the honors program was a very important decision to take a part in and the teachers would go all out to make sure we got where we needed to succeed. Not every day of work is going to be fun, but the staff at my school is well engaged with the students to make the experience greater for everyone.
