I moved here from Nevada in 2018 and the change was intense. Hoover City Schools is a very good district with teachers who care about their students for the most part. I do think the administration and those higher up on the pipeline need to listen to student concerns more and put more resources into diversity training (specifically for race and LGBTQ+). Almost every year there is an "incident" regarding racism at one of the schools. All the district really does is make the students and teachers discuss racism and they move on until another situation happens. Many student led groups are actively trying to make the schools safer and more inclusive towards students of color, but without administrative support, the efforts don't go anywhere.
Hoover City Schools is an excellent school system. This school system has so much to offer their students. My daughter has attended a school in this system since 3rd grade and the opportunities she has been afforded are commendable. She has participated in various extracurricular activities and sports within the system since day one. Attending a school system that encourages education and activities to its students is a bonus for any family. That school life balance I believe is something that my child will remember and incorporate it in her daily life as she continue her education and her career.
Hoover City Schools are amazing! They do a fantastic job and have wonderful teachers. I can say my time at Hoover has been unforgettable and welcoming!
