My High School experience was very good. I was able to grow and mature during my years at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School. I was challenged academically, athletically, and even musically. I was able to find life-long friends that I would not have met if I never transferred to HF-L.
All of my teachers were great and really helped push me to my potential. I was in all of the Honors and AP classes, but regardless, the teachers were there to help me when I needed it.
The athletics were fairly good for me. I loved my teammates and the competition we faced, but my coach made my time not as enjoyable as I would have wished. I still grew and learned from my experiences, but that would be the only downside. They did recently hire a new coach who is fantastic.
Covid was the main problem in high school, as my junior year was cut short and my senior year was not the same. Other than that, which was out of the school's control, I really enjoyed my time there.

While HFL was a decent school academically, socially it was not great. There is clear favoritism that occurs from certain teachers towards the students who play sports. I found the environment to be quite conservative and uncomfortable. If you are not a white kid then it is definitely harder to feel included because you will experience racism from your peers and teachers. If you are not straight, then some of your peers can be extremely rude to you. While the school expresses openness, they are still conservative and made the students take down pride flags during pride month. Overall not a great environment to send your child to.
I think HF-L has an excellent faculty and staff that make going to school very enjoyable. They offer many different classes to challenge those who are up for it while providing support for those who need. One of the best things they have done is committed to a 1-to-1 device policy, where every student has access to their very own computer, which I think really adds to the HF-L experience.
The school lunches are subpar, and would like to see them improved. The diversity is basically none. That's not to knock HF-L, as the surrounding community is mostly White/Caucasian, so I can't really blame them.
Overall, HF-L is an awesome learning environment that I think everyone can benefit from, and encourage those going to HF-L to take advantage of the dozens of extracurriculars they offer.
