Rating 3.8 out of 5 10 reviews
I spent only 3 years with the Homedale school district. And in those years, there have been a lot of good and bads. As a black, gay student in a very small conservative town, I have found that there are very few people that I relate to. I have my small group of friends. And they are everything to me. They've helped get me through everything from coming out to my parents to having to say goodbye to my father. And as much as I can't say that I love Homedale, and I can't wait to get out of here, it gave me something that was more important than anything: a sense of community. This school managed to do something that wasn't easy, and still gave us a place to stay even if it wasn't always the safest place to be. Teachers still stuck up for us even if they didn't agree with us, and that's hard to do when you really can't relate. But someone out there tried, and it worked out for me. And I can't say I don't appreciate that.
Overall I believe that the Homedale School district is a decent district. It is in a tight-nit and well rounded community who supports each other in and out of school. Teachers and students are on a name to name basis and everyone gets along fairly well. However, education is not as high as it should be in the Homedale School District. Students must find loop-holes in order to find an education up to date.
Homedale is a very small rural school. Comparatively, there are not a lot of opportunities for clubs or academics. But overall, I really enjoyed my Homedale experience. The faculty was always helpful and they seemed to enjoy what they spent their time doing. For as small as Homedale is, they do a pretty good job with their students.
