I loved going to hinsdale central all four years of my high school experience. Education wise, i enjoyed every inch of it and learned so many new things and the teachers at central were involved and helped with every area of my education. I also was in various clubs and activities that helped with making and meeting new friends and new people. The school also made me feel safe and welcome as a person of color. The only thing I would like to change would probably be the lunch period of twenty five minutes. The line for food is already long as it is and the wait time is about ten to fifteen minutes which leaves you with little to no time to eat and socialize.
Hinsdale Central will always have a special place in my heart. It is a challenging academic environment that brings out the best in you. With a competitive culture, students excel once they get to college life and Beyond. All resources at Hinsdale Central are deployed in an efficient manner and the parents are involved to a great level. There was a great culture in the school because it really brings out the best in people.
This school gets a lot of attention for the successes of its students and faculty. Rightly so, as sports teams routinely go to State and students are generally high-achieving and talented. It’s definitely not perfect; namely, the fitness center is rather like a dungeon, but there’s on-going construction to improve areas like just that.
As far as teachers, the physics department isn’t very good, but other than that, you will easily find very qualified and dedicated teachers who care a lot about their students and their learning.
The students themselves are more diverse than you might originally expect in a white, wealthy district. Most are white and rather basic, but you’ll easily find your group of friends if you simply get involved.
