HBR as a whole needs a lot of work, they are in a pretty good standing considering it’s in a village but that’s not an excuse for their treatment of students. Their opportunities are limited, their main focus is those who play sports (ESPECIALLY the boys) or if you participate in any kind of agricultural work. There’s little to no diversity, thus the majority of the student body can be racist, intentionally or not, because they’ve never been exposed to a person of color. Teachers are all tired (rightfully so) the people in charge could not care less about the students but hide behind manipulation. There would multiple instances of assault that ended in nothing because they cared to protect the person who assaulted rather than the person who got assaulted, to protect the little dignity they think they have; at least at the high school - sincerely a person of color
Hinckley is a great school to go to if you like to have a lot of one-on-one time with teachers as well as have a more personalized education. It's a very small school with about 40-60 kids in each grade. This can be good but I mostly found it's cons. Since it is such a small school, there are not many varieties of classes you are able to take. Because of this, the opportunities to learn about new things are very slim. However, the classes they do offer are very well taught, especially in the English department. The staff is, for the most part, good. There are some bad apples which are just problems with maturity in handling situations and professionalism. The sports are very limited as they only have "core" sports such as basketball, soccer, baseball, etc. (not football). It's hard to get a good high school experience here as there is not much to do and the school is simply too small to do anything big/fun for the students and community.
HBR is a great school, the teachers there have put in so much effort and because of that I am able to grow in so many ways but especially my academics. I would change the amount of electives if I could along with the clubs, I wish there was more so I could do more!
