Hillsborough Township Public School District Reviews
The schools can be more rigorous and competitive depending on what classes you take. Some teachers are more apathetic than others as well. Violence is not really a concern. There is also a lot of access to different clubs, especially in high school and middle school. The district is also sports-oriented. The school food is poor, and it can be hard to go to the bathroom because of their sign-in policy. However, I find that I learn more than people from other districts. There is not a lot of unified school activities except for Spirit Night. Some people like it, but I find it too chaotic and polarizing, and the lack of regulation for the videos and murals can be problematic.
I loved my time at Hillsborough High School! From freshman year to senior year, I learned that this school has an immense amount of unquieness! There are certain events that bring everyone together, like "Spirit Night." This is a night specific to Hillsborough High School. In fact, I have never heard of any other school having a night dedicated to their students hard work. This night shows all the hard work your grade has put into your "theme," which is voted on in the beginning of the school year. Throughout the year your grade organizes a dance, practices for the relays and tug-of-war during the night, and much more all independently, which I think is important; it prepares us for our futures! The night has a competitive feel, but also reminds everyone how special the school is!
The district is fairly large, with roughly 600 kids per graduating class. I enjoy the numerous academic and extracurricular opportunities available starting with the intermediate school, with clubs ranging from book clubs and chess clubs to clubs focused on character building. The greatest variety and quality of activities is in the high school, where real scientific research goes on alongside advanced video gaming and sports after school. The education itself is of high quality, though it is perhaps slightly overshadowed by neighboring towns with higher-rated schools. Nonetheless, the district is excellent.
