The resources and facilities provided to the students are excellent. The faculty cares for the students to have a good time. The teachers always help the students excel. The school provides students with everything, including programs and new sports. STEM helps to create new courses such as biochemistry and sports like swimming with their new pool. The large campus is also excellent for helping organize classes through the hallways. Overall, this school does provide kids with their needs and allows them set up for a bright future.
The principal and staff of Hicksville High School are genuinely amazing. Even through the COVID-19 epidemic, they continue to strive to let students still have an amazing year, especially through the Senior Parade and virtual graduation planned. They truly care about their students. Anyone attending this high school is very lucky!
Hicksville does some thing great, but some other things very poorly. First off, the diversity is amazing. As a student there I found myself learning so much from my peers not just in terms of cultural diversity, but also socioeconomic and religious diversity. The music department is great although it could be better. The science research program is awful, not due to teachers, but rather misallocation of resources. The school upgraded the bleachers twice and decided to build a pool instead of investing in proper stem laboratory equipment. Hicksville's lackluster STEM department becomes even more of a glaring issue when compared to the towns surrounding it. The guidance department improved in my time there thanks to new hires, but in terms of preparing and readying students for college applications, the school does a poor job.
