Hettinger School District No. 13 Reviews
Hettinger needs to evaluate its priorities. When I attended, it funneled massive amounts of money into its sports teams (beyond its wrestling team they were not consistently successful teams either.) In a span of three or four years the gym floor was redone twice. It also funneled massive amounts of money into security cameras, locks, and a metal gate, even though no serious crimes or break-ins had occurred there. However, despite this spending, when the time came for my class to receive six college text books for one of our courses, Hettinger bought the wrong editions, and when we asked for the correct editions, the school claimed it was not in the book budget. Academics have taken a back seat in Hettinger. I was on my own frequently to really learn material and equally alone in applying to colleges (I managed to get into Harvard, but with little help from my guidance counselor.)
Hettinger Public School is a small town school with the small town experience. The classes are close and tight. The class sizes are small which is wonderful for the teacher and the student. The teachers accommodate to the students schedules and work with what is best for the learner.
