Not a very diverse school. We’ve had students be harassed and bullied for being lgbtq+ and there are a lot of people who think slurs should be a normal part of vocabulary. The teachers vary on helpful and kindness. I’ve had teachers who not only helped me learn but were there for me when I was struggling mentally. I’ve also had ones who seem like they hate teaching and actively act like they hate the students. There are a fair amount of sports, but we just aren’t very good. I wish this school would get its harassment of minorities down, it’s just ridiculous. There are a fair amount of opportunities to advance your education like programs of Studie and AP classes. However, in the time that I’ve been attending I was told I couldn’t get an associates or graduate early even though I could. It can be frustrating as the admin doesn’t listen to what would be best for the individual.
Hermiston High School has brought many great experiences towards me. Throughout my four years attending, I have many memories of the staff, academic courses, including the CTE curriculum, and sports. The school has certainly been a game changer for preparing me for post secondary education. I find the use of scholarships necessary to pay for my books and tuition fees so I can achieve my goals.
I enjoyed many elective classes that are offered. My love of science flourished here with many options to spread the interest of students. The teachers are kind and grade fairly, I have had no problems with any of them and help whenever needed. They are willing to become involved in their students' lives to advance them academically. The lunch has many options to choose and always has to offer something to even the pickiest eaters like myself. The students and their willing to learn is a disappointment to me. Little effort from a majority of students is produced even with the simplest tasks. With a bit of effort, this school can become the greatest. Go Bulldogs!
