Personally, Harford county hasn’t been all that bad but I don’t think it’s perfect. There need to be some improvements like better school lunches, better admin, and better college readiness. However, overall, I’ve enjoyed my educational career at harford county public schools since I went to elementary, middle, and high school in this same county. So, it’s safe to say I’ve seen the worst of it like student conflict, but I’ve seen the best of it like school spirit. Even though, this county is often looked over and sometimes disrespected due to their more diverse schools, it’s still a pretty solid school district and has helped achieve many opportunities that I didn’t think were possible. Like dual enrollment, it was just a goal I use to talk about with my parents but with the help of my counselor, I was able to start my junior year and have now even declared my major. This is not only giving me a headstart, but it’s also saving me a lot of money.
No just great school, the best school. Harford county has some of the best educators in the state and arguably in the country. My family has lived in various states for our work and I can contest that Harford county’s standards, dedication to academia, care for families, and commitment to our youth is exceptional. From early education, phonemic awareness, the focus on STEM, environmental conservation efforts, Harford county checks all of the boxes. I love it and am proud to raise my children here.
During my high school experience I had to transfer schools. During that time everyone who I talked to on the phone was kind and patient with me through out the steps. They are a really warm and caring community. But I would really like to see that teachers get more days off and more appreciation for what they do. They have their own family, students, and work to do. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, so they deserve some break here and there.
