Hamilton County School District Reviews
Before attending Collegiate High School I attended Boyd Buchanan and I was a cheerleader. I loved this and never thought I would want to change schools, but due to health issues I was unable to cheer so I began looking for more opportunities. Now that I am attending Collegiate High I able to do full time duel enrollment to get ahead in college! With my time there the faculty have been very helpful and want the best for me. They made sure to help me feel welcome and still continue to this day! I have loved every second of being there and I am looking forward to another year!
My experience was mixed. Funds were nevergiven to programs that deserve it and any positive experiences were from teachers or individuals, not the county themselves. Personally I'd like to see more of a focus on the arts and reading. Reading seemsto be the lowest ACT score. The academics and teachers are a tough one. Academics are sometimes focused on the wrong thing, as I had 8 quarters of algebra, and 1 quarter of personal finance. That is so backwards to me. Ihad some good and bad teachers but that is every school. However I only feel slightly prepared for college.
While I have much love for Soddy Daisy High School, the district itself has plenty of kinks to work out overall. Financial support for our schools is quite minimal and often leads to old schools in need of major improvements. However, this district does care for it's students and it works hard to support them. I believe allowing students to grow and have the best atmosphere possible is the goal of our district. I know money will always be an issue in public school systems, but when a district puts the students first they are truly making a positive impact on the lives of their students.
