Hamilton City Schools creates a great school culture and environment mostly due to the deep diversity of students and teachers. The administration could be improved, during my time at Hamilton, I found that the administration and especially the school board was counter intuitive in their quest to make Hamilton a better environment and often smothered the teachers and students that were already creating a good environment.
My son was a student here because we moved into the district from Monroe. I have found the staff at Hamilton freshman to be the rudest and most condescending people I have ever had the misfortune of having to deal with. The office staff and assistant principle seem to think that having to talk with, or help parents in person is too much of distraction from their office banter and become annoyed if you can't solve you own issues online. The teachers in my experience are a little better, but not very motivated toward students who aren't on their "favorites" list! The poor academics of the district speaks for itself.
As a student at this distinguished school, my experience has been stimulating, though the school itself has much room for improvement. The staff and administrators care extremely for its students. The staff are helpful in all aspects of student life and guide us to the greatest potential of our futures outside of this school. The curriculum is challenging, in a good way, and pushes me to being the best and brightest person I can be. On the other hand, the hygienics, discipline, and the athletics could use some help. The rooms and bathrooms are less than satisfactory when it comes to cleanliness. The lack of discipline is severe, readily seen throughout the school, and needs adjusting. Furthermore, the athletics department is less than welcoming, has an overwhelmingly negative attitude, and its uniforms are of poor quality. Overall, though the school has room to improve and some things can always stay the same, my experience at Hamilton High is a good one that I will cherish.
