Overall, the Hacienda La Puente School District does provide for students needs such as reduced food and good education. However some faults that can be found within this district is the fact that the buildings are extremely old and the textbooks are to the point where some might have vandalism or be used to an extreme extent. Furthermore, the freedom that this district provides is very limited and student's items are confiscated the majority of the time such as toys or fidgeting items which some find pleasure with without disturbing class sessions or surrounding students. Though these are some faults that the district has including old equipment and an average student life, it does not into a category where it has terrible quality. However, this district doesn't do much for students to qualify as an excellent district either, thus leaving it in a category of average that fits the basic needs for a students education to continue.
My overall experience in HLPUSD has been great, my teachers have been encouraging me to go to college every day since my freshman year, and provide a learning environment I am comfortable in. My AVID teacher especially has done everything he can to ensure that we get accepted into a college/University to give us options in our future. The campus has around 1000 students in total and the population is mostly people with a Latino/Hispanic heritage. As a senior getting ready for college I can say that HLPUSD has prepared me to leave high school and go into college.
The first thing coming to mind is probably the free lunch for the students being not one of the higher income districts in the area, but it is way more than that. The ENVIRONMENT within the schools in the district are unified even though being from different cities technicality, but being brought together as ONE. The teachers within in the district are something very special and one of a kind, where they are mainly alumni's from my current high school, bringing a deeper interaction with the students. Something unique about our district is how involved they truly are when it comes to sporting events and the arts in all the schools. The unique part about are district is the board and how involved they are when it comes to y any sporting events or the arts.
