About
Enrolling
Grosse Pointe is one of those rare places that draws generation upon generation back to raise their own children in a community where schools and city services have kept up with the times. Here children grow up within walking distance of great schools and safe parks. Families live, learn and play together on tree-lined streets. Neighbors chat over the fences, meet for coffee in the shopping districts, and barbecue in the city parks. It is a close-knit community.
Bordered on one side by the beautiful Lake St. Clair and on the other by Interstate-94, Detroit, the suburbs and nature are easily accessible. One of the jewels of this community is the public school system, and GPPSS takes great pride in offering an educational experience where everyone learns, every day.

Fine & Performing Arts
Given the level of commitment of our K-12 music faculty, the reputation of our programs for taking students to the next level, and the quality of our performances locally, statewide and beyond, it is no wonder our High School performances are Grammy-winning & GPPSS was selected in 2020 and 2021 as one of the best communities for music education by the National Association of Music Merchants.

Grosse Pointe Public School System Reviews
As a recent grad who spent K-12 going through GPPSS I can say with confidence that the actual administration itself did more harm than good. As a student, I rarely felt heard, and quite frankly felt as though the large majority of students who held loud opinions about certain things were blatantly ignored by the school board and district. Instead of doing what's best for teachers, students, and staff of the schools, they choose what appeases most voters and completely disregard the people their actions actually affect. They refuse to break dirty Grosse Pointe politics and instead of choosing to educate students focus far more on how to stay in power and make minority-driven decisions.
I think about how things could be improved and it is hard to pinpoint anything specific. Overall my school experience has been positive. I feel supported and challenged and look forward to going everyday.
