Gretna Public Schools has well constructed schools and a wide range of available to technology. They lack a well structured accountability policy. In the district, they have a "no fail" policy which allows all failing tests to be redone to earn a 70%. They also do not allow extra credit and for students to achieve above a 4.0. This punishes the students who excel academically and this eliminates the ability for class rank that a lot of colleges require. Overall, the staff is friendly and their are multiple teachers that care about their students.

I would change many things about Gretna High School. I think the school has a decent academic program, meanwhile they don't have an early college program like Millard South does. I think that the school diversity is a problem. The sports programs I have been in are average it feels like people get left out and put out because they don't know others. The food quality is terrible and quite disgusting when I look over at my friends' lunch. Gretna has an excellent music and arts program but I am not too much apart of that because I am not a choir or arts person. Overall, Gretna is alright and you can find some good friends if you look in the right groups but it would not be my first choice of schooling.
I had some positive experiences attending Gretna Public Schools from elementary until I graduated from high school. Overall, however, I would not recommend this high school or the district and would not send my children there. No diversity. Everyone I attended school with was white, with the exception of one African American student (not in my graduating class). This goes for the administrators and teachers, as well. The vast majority of students had wealthy parents and privileged upbringings. “Yuppie” crowd. Administration, teachers, and students alike express Conservative views, with little to no tolerance of others. Implicit and explicit misogynistic attitudes prevail. Sexual assaults were common, to which the administration, teachers, and students blame victims. Speaking from my own experience, it does not prepare students well for life in the real world.
