Grand Haven will never disappoint when it comes to academic opportunities. The staff always pushed me to do my best and reach my goals. I was never left with no new challenges. Whenever I would outdo myself the school always had a new task to give. I loved this because it pushed me to be the best me possible. Once I had given the high school curriculum my whole effort the school helped be dual enroll my last two years and it was such an amazing opportunity.
The are also countless extracurricular to partake in! I was never bored and always busy with something. These activities were more than just your average sports and model UN, GH took it to a new level. I remember participating in a club called "cereal club" at one point in my time there. Where else can you find a synchronized swimming club?!

I have going to the high school for all 4 years of high school. The school is very large. I did not know before going there that high schools could be so big. There are so many options for sports. I enjoy the variety in classes as well. You gym credit doesn’t have to be the “normal” gym stereotype. They offer yoga. Weight lifting, woman’s health, etc. It is quite cool. The main issue with my school is the depression issues. Over half of the school has depression or anxiety. I think there needs to be work on that. I also hate that we can’t carry our backpacks around anymore because there is worry about a school shooter. It is sad.
Grand Haven High School is a pretty good school. There are a variety of classes, clubs. and sports that one can join. For example, there is a class called Pay it Forward where the students volunteer and give back to the community. The majority of the teachers are supportive and try to help students with their problems. However, the school lacks diversity because the student population is majorly white, which can be a turn off for some people. The school also has a reputation for being uppity and clique-y. I would like to see more diversity and mental health awareness promoted throughout the school. I also hope the school can shed its snobbish reputation one day and be more welcoming to kids from all areas, not just Grand Haven, Michigan or the tri-cities area. I also wish Home Economics was a class that was offered because I think it would be beneficial for everyone.
