I am a Senior at Grady, and I have gone to Grady for all of my high school years. I have had very great experiences over the years I have gone to school here. The culture is amazing, and the attention that you get from the teachers is even better.
Grady is an amazing school to go to. The PreK-12th environment is excellent, and what with a new school, the experience will be doubly enhanced! As a student going into their senior year, I highly recommend Grady to anyone looking for a second family for their children!
The safety is top notch. There is a quality small community feel where everyone knows everyone. The new school currently under construction is going to be wonderful (very much needed). Unfortunately it is just another teach for the test school, with the exception for a couple fabulous teachers. They are very stuck in the ages when it comes to certain policies. It should just be a uniform school, as students are allowed little to no personal expression. The dress code is extreme to say the least (unless you're certain kids that seem to get away with anything). Little to no elective classes, which I'm sure is due to the smaller size, but kids still need to experience other options besides nonstop noses in books. Good thing for the STEM lab.
The teachers are very helpful to all students and will offer to see any student that is struggling in a class. The facilities are very run down except the Wildcat Gymnasium and the Elementary Commons Area. The school is very lucky to to be able to start construction for a new school building and give future students the facility that they deserve. I feel that I received an adequate education from Grady ISD, and even though no AP classes are offered, I was able to take many dual credit classes and gain credit toward college. In many ways, this has prepared me for what is to come in college after I graduate.
The things I liked the most about grady is how involved the teachers are with their students, and the family environment that this school provides. From the beginning of the year, I was welcomed by all students and teachers. I have been to many different schools during my highschool years and never once have I felt so in place and welcomed. This school is a great environment to be in and I can honestly say that I thrived here. My overall experience at Grady was definitely an experience I will cherish and hold with me throughout my college years.
