Not hearing great things about BOE. New president is hiring teachers from his old district. Our kid has been complaining about her math teacher all year. We thought it was just kids being kids. But, after talking to other parents we realized our kid is telling the truth. The teacher does not teach. Basically giving them worksheets. They need to figure it out on their own.
Glen Rock is almost like its own private school. We are very pleased at the high school level with the quality of teachers, class options and the college readiness.
Throughout middle school, I felt that I wasn’t that challenged and schoolwork was very manageable. However, high school proved to be much more challenging. I had to work hard to succeed and was met by peers who were equally academically driven. In my honors and AP classes, I was given a lot of work and high expectations that required a lot of effort. I would say the majority of my teachers were qualified, although some were not, either because they did not thoroughly know the material they were supposed to be teaching me or because I felt that they were unfair. I sometimes felt extremely overwhelmed with the coursework I had, and I know friends and peers who felt similar. Overall, my education at Glen Rock was effective and taught me life skills, but it also came with sacrifices and stress.
