Glen Ridge High School is filled with a lot of teachers who seem to truly want their students to succeed and perform to the best of their ability. Things in the world change very quickly, and the curriculum is adaptive to this. Despite being a very predominantly white town, I think that there's a strong newfound effort to spread cultural awareness, specifically in the English, Music, and History programs. Furthermore, with the rise in Covid-19 cases nationwide, the school had overall been very accommodating with virtual schoolwork, and staying very organized when it comes to giving students extra help and prioritizing their education as well as their safety.
The high education and focus on college in the junior and senior year cause for much competition between students to be formed from the start of students' high school careers. The school encourages students to be comfortable with the classes they take but the social nature of the school causes students to take more advanced classes than they feel comfortable with. Seniors are taking as many as 6 APs in one year, while some only take 1 AP all four years.
Going to Glen Ridge High School for 6 years has been a true experiences. I've met great people and have grown bonds with teachers that are willing to be by my side and chear me on to get to college and all aid me with tools and resources. But at the same time the school can be a little lacking with teachers and also the school as a whole. Glen Ridge was very heavy concentrated on sports and lacked a grasp on STEM, which has start to explode and expand to many school. Glen Ridge really just stated to grasp STEM and started to bring new tech to the schools. Teachers also lack sometimes with some teacher doing a semi-good job but at times lack not teaching the class or not doing anything.
All in all while the school has its ups and downs, I've learned a lot and also all the school grow and change with new faces every year.
