Glastonbury High School was a good example of a high school. The classes were of good quality and the teachers knew what they were teaching while also including students' input. There were also a wide variety of clubs and elective class subjects. The school events that the staff put on were also a lot of fun and the sports teams did fantastic. Not to mention how up to date the technology and library resources were that were provided to students. It was also a very welcoming environment with little instances of bullying. There was also ample parking space for students and staff. The agriscience program was also of good quality and a good way for kids to be involved and learn new skills. The food could've been a bit better, but there was variety so it wasn't too bad. Ipad usage for students was also too excessive on the school's part, due to the debates on whether they actually helped the kids learn or not. However, that can be tied into being up to date with the technology.
The Glastonbury School district is highly rated and often bragged about by many students and parents. While many parents move into the Glastonbury district to attempt to aid their children in their education, Glastonbury is not all its cracked up to be. While a wide variety of programs are offered along with sports and extracurriculars, there are many negatives. A lack of diversity causes for many issues in cultural appropriation and being In what's known as the "Glastonbury bubble". Many people who grow up and go to school in Glastonbury are sheltered in their school with countless teachers who let their personal and political opinions shine through. All and all, while Glastonbury does have countless opportunities, the negativities of teachers and stigmas attached cancel out leading to a 3/5 stars.
I have had a great experience at Glastonbury High School. I moved to Glastonburymy freshman year, and it was not a hard transition at all. The teachers and students are all so welcoming, and the enviroment at the school is exactly what I was looking for in a high school. The school has so many opportunities in sports, and has so many clubs and organizations that help you get involved with your community. It provides you with numerous resources, and helps one to follow their passions and dreams. I am so glad I came to GHS, and am so thankful for the experience I’ve had at the school.
