I am a Junior attending Garden City High School. This is my first year at Garden City after attending Clyde High School for the first two years of my high school experience. My family and I made the move after my parents received new jobs at the school district in Garden City. For my family and I it has been a very easy transition. The people have been extremely welcoming and involve us in all of the opportunities the small town has. Moving from Clyde (a bigger school) to the small town of Garden City was a scary thought at first but quickly became a hospitable place. Moving from a bigger town it is easy to see that there are not as many opportunities in the smaller town. However, what my school lacks in opportunity they make up for by having kind and hard working people. I have been given a great education here due to the time and effort the staff poor into each of the students. Coming to Glasscock County has made me feel less like a number in a class and more like a valued person.
I’ve been going to school here my whole life. Made some friends and lots of family. Everyone here has each other’s back like nobody’s business. Gonna miss this place when I graduate!
My experience at Glasscock County ISD was admittedly not the best. However, I am grateful for the opportunities I was given in attendence. I am valedictorian of my senior class, and have qualified for state UIL academics all 4 years of high school. But while the academic programs are excellent, the people that go to school there are a bit judgmental.
