The environment was great, but the teaching was something that I found difficult during certain subjects. Difficult for some students that might have trouble with certain subjects
Genoa-Kingston has definitely got something special. The environment is one that is very uncommon to find in many modern high schools. The school is that of a very peaceful and calm atmosphere. We are a small school with big pride. It is so rare to be able to know every single person in your school like you can at Genoa. Growing up in this district you are able to build relationships with your classmates easily and feel safe going to school. Genoa is one in a million.
Over all my time at genoa kingstom was great. I am a triathleat in football wrestling and track which all had winning records which is amazing. The teachers all are very caring and no matter what just wantd whats best for the kids.
I like Genoa because it has a lot of school spirit and the academics are very good, as well as the administration.
It was the worst experience of my life. The only reason I went to this school was because it was the only one my family could afford. The teachers were terrible and did not care about me or my marks. All we did was watch movies. I do not feel ready for next year and am considering taking a gap year to learn everything that was not taught.
Genoa-Kingston high school was a school which excelled in certain areas while being mundane in others. There was a lack of motivation from many students as well as certain teachers alike which caused it to be hard to become motivated as well. That being said, many teachers were enthusiastic and willing to help the students who had a strong drive.
My experience these last few years in Genoa have been quite memorable. Each year has been filled with new possibilities and options. The environment around the school is a beautiful small town with big-time pride! Compared to schools around us I definitely think we have the upper hand. The diversity is pretty moderate and inclusiveness is higher when compared to other larger schools. If I could ask for one thing to change, it would be incentives to help students learn more. There are always a group of students who may not be as inclined to want to learn as others, so I feel as though they should implement some more programs in order to get them involved.
I had a pretty good time overall at Genoa, however my siblings and I all struggled with bullying and many of the staff overlooked our complaints and in some cases even made excuses for the bullies. I think that bullying should be taken more seriously than they do.
This school is overall awful with the teachers and staff. We don’t have enough classes with psychology, college classes or have hard classes. We need to be treated better by the staff and not be so strict on everything. The food is terrible and overall would not recommend to go to this school.
This school is terrible for me. The students are so disrespectful to their peers and teachers. 90% of the students hate it here and want to leave.
Genoa is a very good school overall, however, they aren’t very good at connecting with many students who need more help.
Genoa-Kingston High School is a small powerhouse right in the middle of endless farm fields in the very rural world of northern Illinois. There’s a little over 100 of us seniors- and we’ve known each other since kindergarten. A few new faces here and there but basically it’s just us. Every day. Teachers come and go. But we’re still here, working together, making it work, sharing our hopes and dreams with each other, supporting each other, working to make our town, our city, our state, our world-a better place. For all of us. For all of you.
This school has one of the worst cases of bullying, and the inability to put a stop to it that I have ever seen, so much so that there have been multiple suicides due to bullying. Not only that, but the teachers refuse to adequately assist their students in understanding the material. Money that should be used to purchase updated books is spent on new footballs, soccer equipment, and other miscellaneous sports items. The principal is the worst I have ever seen, refusing to do even the bare minimum in keeping his students safe. I feel that I actually lost knowledge for having gone there.
While attending Genoa kingston I really enjoyed the small class sizes and the one on one teacher help you can receive if needed. The small town allows you to know almost everyone in the whole high school so you will always have someone to talk to in classes.
I feel that the social environment of this school is well balance. Many students have great relations with the teachers, and being a smaller school, it really helps in problem solving and academics. With a closer student teacher relationship educators are able to keep children on the right path, and help when they know a child is struggling. With that being said there is a negative side to this. With teachers knowing students betters some behaviors are overlooked, or some students feel the need to conform to a reprieved mold of themselves and never change. Academically the school is average, though lacking in the mathematics department. All other fields are well liked, well received, and have better rankings-other than the Sciences. Those who come in have a predetermined notion of what high school is, and act accordingly. While older classes become hypercritical. Violence is not a thought in anyone's mind here, but passive bully often is.
