“High school is one of the best and worst years of someone’s life”. There are so many changes surrounding these fragile four years, emotionally, socially, and physically. In order to mature appropriately, I believe that a strong schooling foundation in a child’s life is necessary. This is exactly what GHS provided me, a stable foundation. They gave me the tools necessary to grow, not only academically. This school district helped shape me into the person that I am today. The teachers and coaches provided to students at every building were extraordinary. They always made themselves available to help. They were clear with expectations, teaching discipline. They made connections with every student that lasted. The other day, I saw my elementary school teacher at the store. Twelve years later, she remembered me, and we reminisced memories together. These are the kind of people that all the Geneva Schools have. Over my time at GHS, the people made it an experience worth remembering.
The school itself is very wealthy and has access to excellent amenities. The teachers are highly qualified for the most part, quite a few of them having worked at GHS for 10 years or more. The quality of the education provided and the safe location are phenomenal.
However, I cannot grant more than 2 stars because I simply did not enjoy coming to school here. As a POC, I felt unwelcome because there were very few people who had a similar background to me or even looked like me -- this school is located in a city that primarily consists of rich white Republican families. I experienced blatant racism (someone even telling me to go back to my country) multiple times from students and teachers alike, and administrators did NOTHING about this. I also have certain psychiatric disabilities, but I was not permitted accommodations because I apparently was fine without them (I was not -- I was hospitalised thrice).
Overall, this school is excellent for academics, and that's about it.

I am really enjoying my experience as a student at Geneva Community High School! I feel that this school does an excellent job of preparing its students for higher education. It also has a variety of different courses and electives that allow students to find and expand their interests. The teachers and staff at this high school prioritize the academic success and personal well-being of students. My only critiques are that the athletics department is more valued than the music and arts department, and the school is not located in a very racially or economically diverse area. Overall, Geneva Community High School is an outstanding school that provides great opportunities for its students!
