I have lived in Gatesville for the past 15 years, I am now 17 and have gone through every school in the Gatesville Independent School District. Gatesville is a very charismatic community, there is a lot of love that goes into the schools, creating a warm and inviting environment. Though one can feel how much they are cared for in the school by the teachers and staff, the resources that are offered are poor, as well as the environment the students are being forced to learn in . At the high school computers are broken down, one can’t even print something out, there are only three bathrooms with only a few stalls each, there is even a hole in the ceiling with a horse trough sitting under it to catch the water. Not to mention the safety at Gatesville high school is awful, there are numerous unguarded entrances and exits all around the school. I would love for Gatesville to take advantage of current technology and alter their learning environments for their students, so we can thrive.

I grew up in Gatesville and love the town and the school but they don't use their heads all the time and think. The high school is due for a renovation and instead of taking down the entire school, they are just patching it up and making half of a new school. It is very frustrating and stressful to the students. There is parts of the building in construction leaving it difficult to navigate through the halls to get to classes, there are many leaks, and parts of the school that just follow no code. the students who are nice and the teachers who try are the only reason the school is some-what decent because the administration is not the best.
Gatesville Independent School District is your typical small conservative school. They refuse to change outdated rules and their handbook to better fit the new generations. If you are not a white male athlete then the school does not care about you. The buildings all carry asbestos and just poor conditions for students to learn in. Most of the faculty do not care if you learn anything or if you pass.
