In the schools of FUHSD, there is strong academics especially in STEM subjects and also very competitive atmosphere. There are good resources for students in developing their extra curricular activities. Some of the choir programs are amazing. The schools managed quite well during the pandemic, developing their online classes and keeping the students engaged. It seemed challenging at first since neither the students nor the teachers were ever used to the concept of online teaching but the district adapted well. There is good opportunity to play sports and as the schools have opened up after the pandemic, it is great to see the athletic teams coming on the fields and playing. Most schools have been very accommodative of student needs during and after the pandemic given the requirements for COVID testing and implementing rules for mask. Overall it has been quite challenging in the past 2 years and the schools in the FUHSD have done well despite the unprecedented circumstances.
Overall my experience in the Fremont Union High School District was pretty great. The main thing I loved about the school I attended was that there was a wide range of academic classes I could take, whether it was AP, honors, or regular where I was able to challenge myself. Also there were a lot of extracurriculars that I could take in order to get involved. I was on the Fremont Cheer Team for 4 years, ASB class for 3 years, the clubs interact, National Honor Society, El Conversation Club, and Link Crew. Although my experience at Fremont was great, the teachers that I had varied from good and bad. I had some pretty awesome teachers that I could go to for help and for guidance in everyday life which was great, but at the same time, some teachers I had didn't teach material very well. Overall the administrative team and counselors were very supportive and more often that not the teachers were great. Overall my experience at Fremont High School in the Union was great!
I love that this district really exposes its students to the world and helps them discover themselves while learning how to contribute to society. There are a ton of activities available for students including a variety of clubs and courses, performing arts (such as the school dance team, choir, color guard, etc.), and an active and hardworking athletics team. The students are a bit competitive but other than that, I think this district does a wonderful job connecting its students to various opportunities and creating a strong, supportive, and involved community.
