The school isn't bad if you are self-motivated or have a lot of people cheering for you, but if you don't have a lot of support you're probably not going to get very far. The administration favors the students who are more involved and performing well academically and doesn't pay very much attention to anyone else. There is a college and career center which is very helpful, but you have to seek it out to get any help or resources. A lot of students here don't care about education and most people just do the bare minimum to get by, so there isn't much competition among students to be higher in the class or anything like that.

The teachers are helpful and prepared. They are always willing to stay late to give students support. A variety of courses are offered. We could use more access to technology and real world experiences. We also need more college prep experiences besides academics.

Our city has had some tough financial times, so we don't have a lot of money for extras. Our building is historically interesting, but we don't have enough money for updates. Other schools in our conference have access to resources we don't have.

But, we have a lot of school spirit and pride. We are lucky to have many activities, sports, and clubs to choose from. We need to be in a different conference for sports because we have to participate with schools twice our size. Yet we still have winning seasons in many of our sports and competitive clubs.
Freeport School District gives you lots of opportunities to do what you want to do after High School. The reason I give Freeport a three out of five stars is because of the lack of safety in some areas and not having air conditioning making the students have an uncomfortable learning experience. Finally, the food is pretty bad on most days but you can expect this based on the guide lines that the government made for us.
