I have a Granddaughter in kindergarten at Lotus School. She is a Type 1Diabetic and I cannot say enough good about the staff here.I was a nervous wreck her first week here but knowing the staff that deals with her throughout the day have gone to our Childrens Luthern General Hospital for training. The assistant Nurse is great,as her gym teacher and classroom teacher. They all have gone above and beyond to meet our needs. The teacher also has a buddy system for her when she needs to go anywhere in the school so she is not alone. Her blood sugar needs to be checked many times throughout the day and all carbs eaten need to be calculated after eating and insulin given by staff.I have read frightening stories from schools nationwide to where families are afraid to send their student to school because they dont want to be responsible.I cannot say enough good about this school.

I grew up attending the schools in this district and I enjoyed most of my time during those years. Having moved to this district at a young age, I thought that it would be difficult to fit in and make new friends, but I was quickly proven wrong and was welcomed into my school and community. Before I moved I was uninterested in school and did not try very hard, but something about district 114 made me turn my act around and soon I was one of the better students in my class, even making it into the top ten in my class all through my days in middle school. I'm very happy that my parents made the decision to move to district 114 when I was a younger kid, who knows where I would be socially and academically if I had not been exposed to a great environment such as this.
