Fox Chapel Area School District Reviews
Music department couldn't be better. I'm very fortunate to have the quality of music education and opportunities we have at Fox Chapel, although it's a shame the school doesn't fund music the way they fund sports. It's all on the parents and fundraising, which isn't fair to those who are economically disadvantaged. Disproportunately few of those in Fox Chapel though. Excellent selection of AP classes. I think I'll be very well prepared for college. Many colleges visit here, including my first choice! More interesting electives here than you could possibly fit in your schedule. Small class sizes. I think there's probably something here for everyone.
I liked the school. I have been through the entire fox chapel system and it has been a pretty great journey. The teachers that I have had have all been pretty solid with the exception of a few teachers. The school culture is only alright as there is a certain stereotypical popular kid that excels in this school system. It's sports dominate in some sense but there are certain sports within the fox chapel system that truly dominate (Tennis, soccer and golf). The parental influence in fox chapel is pretty great as PTA involvement within the system is quite prevalent. Clubs and other such activities within the fox chapel community have always been amazing from recreational youth basketball to busking club, the students have opportunity to join and participate in these amazing activities.
I enjoy my school Fox Chapel Area High School because the academics are amazing. They really do challenge you, but it makes you want to become a better student to get that A. The teachers are very nice, but some don't really explain the concepts in a simpler way if a student is confused. Some also brush through topics and terms quickly as if we have already learned the topic. Yes, the textbook goes over the material we need to know, but sometimes they aren't exactly what the teacher is talking about, so I find some classes difficult when this happens. The diversity in Fox Chapel is very minimal since it a predominant white suburban area, but there are organizations like Black Student Union and DESI Club that make up for it and celebrate some of the diversity in the school.
