I love my child's school. The teachers, administration & staff are all excellent and helpful. The poor review is for transportation. They do not handle problems appropriately, do not contact parents when needed and have lied about situations with my child. Their transportation rules have put many families in a bind and crime rates have gone up in Fort Wayne between the hours of 4pm and 6pm because of this. FWCS transportation has little interest in keeping my children safe and ready to be fully engaged at school.

My experience in the Fort Wayne Community Schools district was quite the adventure. I have never had any complains about the schooling I have endured and for the most part the teachers are highly qualified. The only thing that my friends and I have had complaints with is the grading system. In FWCS, there are formative and summative grades. The difference between these two types of grades is the weight they have on your grade. The reason why so many people complain about this form of grading is because a student could have ten A+ grades in the formative column and then receive one B- in the summative column and their final grade will be a B-.
Fort Wayne Community Schools has helped me become the person that I am today. If I would not have transferred from a private school to a public school, I wouldn't have been exposed to diversity. My overall experience in this school system was very good. I got to meet new people, relate to other cultures, but best of all, I got to know myself more. Walking around the halls of R Nelson Snider High School has allowed me to get a glimpse of who I really am. I realized that I enjoy being in crowds, spending time with the people who will eventually become some of my best friends in due time, and that no matter what crowd I got in, I would be able to look past any differences from the backgrounds of other people that I came in contact with. Fort Wayne Community Schools showed me that I mattered. Interacting with the faculty, being exposed to multiple resources that prepared me for college, and being involved with sports has created life long memories.
