Fort Scott is a smaller town school, but they encourage students and prepare them to go to larger schools. They offer Gifted & Enrichment programs for the elementary through middle school students and Advanced Placement & Dual Credit courses for the high school students. The teachers are highly educated and come from diverse backgrounds. They are all able and willing to adapt to various forms of learning. I highly recommend this school system.

People accept and respect those with disabilities at my school, which I extremely appreciate! However, there are many things that happen such as sexual assault and racist sayings that get brushed under the rug-- especially when it's someone like a "football star" that does these actions.
While Fort Scott senior high is a wonderful facility, we as a school let far too many things slip by & have a definite display of favoritism. For example, we allow for teachers children to have a slap on the wrist whereas other students would receive a detention or even face expulsion. One day for school we had 'pigs in a blanket,' which was simply a burnt tortilla with a hot dog & unmelted cheese on it. The teachers are swarmed, & that typically results in lessons being rushed and only one type of learning being addressed. A majority of the staff is wonderful, but there is also a section of the staff that abuses & bullies children. One teacher has even gone so far as to sick her daughter, a senior, on a sophomore for a school dance mishap & then harassed her on facebook as well as the rest of her family. We also have a wife-beater teaching freshmen, one that actually went to jail for a while & then resumed his job as soon as he got out.
