I've been a student in the district since pre-k, and have come to know a lot about the community. Everyone knows pretty much everyone, and I've been friends with the same people since middle school. There is a tight-knit feeling here, and I do feel comfortable with a lot of kids here. The new enclosed breezeway at the HS makes me feel safer there and the new updated stadium is really nice. We get chromebooks and expensive tech, but I wish some of the money went towards things like updating the bathrooms, etc (even though I understand we don't get a lot of money). The majority of staff is kind and helpful, and want to see us succeed. That includes the bus drivers, custodians, lunch ladies, etc, too!

I loved my time at Fort Osage. I loved all my teachers and administration. I iwas involved with many things including the band program and the ap/duel credit classes. I was very happy with my time at fort! My teachers were understanding when I did not understand something or when I was sick and I needed something explained to me again. I just wish that they would be more proactive with bullying within the school day. I was not personally bullied but my sister was and they did not do anything about it until I went into the office and demanded to see a principal
My Fort Family truly showed me what the meaning of "home away from home" is. I spent all 13 years of my public education career in the Fort Osage School District, and I loved every minute of it! Teachers, coaches, staff, parents; no matter who it was, there was always someone there to support you, to push you, and to motivate you. I was given so many opportunities to be a well-rounded, involved student; opportunities that I believe would not have been so bountiful if I had attended school in a larger district and might have been looked over or unnoticed. Once an Indian, always an Indian!
