Fayette County Public Schools are great! We are blessed to live in this county. Our Superintendent Emmanuel 'Manny' Caulk is awesome. His core values great: Students come first; Victory is in the classroom; Leadership, capacity building, and collaboration for results are keys to success; and Families are our partners.
Fayette County is a great community, and working together to improve morale and rebuild relationships. We have everything we need here in Fayette County to make our mission a reality – talented students, dedicated employees, caring families, and supportive community members.

I love having the opportunity to grow up and learn in the Fayette County Public School system. I have lived in Lexington since second grade; attending Lansdowne Elementary, Southern Middle School, and now STEAM Academy. I have a few memorable teachers from each school and they have each has a huge impact on my education and character. STEAM Academy is one the best programs in the nation because it offers high school students an opportunity to earn college credit (for free), receive a variety of internship experiences, and it is very advanced with technology. I feel that I have accomplished so much from attending STEAM Academy since my freshman year. With everything that I have experienced in this school district, I can say that I am prepared and so excited to be moving on to college. I am one step closer to my dreams of obtaining my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree!
Although certain schools, such as SCAPA, contain programs focused on the arts, overall more attention and funds should go towards the arts programs.
In addition, more focus should be guided towards expanding language learning opportunities. As of now, LaFayette is the one of the only Fayette county schools offering an Asian foreign language. Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world. Why is there no focus on it? More emphasis put towards learning a language would provide the same, if not greater, benefits as the current math programs provide. Learning a foreign language is shown to improve test taking abilities, cognitive thinking, and promotes confidence in young adults. Why do we push aside those facts?
Lastly, we were able to find a new school, but have not renovated Henry Clay since the 70s. I believe the issue speaks for itself.
