Farmington R-VII School District Reviews
The majority of the administration are kind. Has a rotating schedule structure. They do offer various programs to be involved in, but do not let students in the preceding schools know what their options are for clubs, activities, and sports. School provides Chromebooks for students along with an email that will provide electronic access for their entire educational career with the district, but do not allow you to take home a book to do additional reading. Teachers do not respond to their email quickly when student is asking for assistance or to resolve an issue with their grades. Due to the school being in a rural area, it's not very diverse & when someone does move in that is not an alumni or an outsider of the town it seems to be a disadvantage. Highly focused on 3 male sports; football, baseball, & basketball. All other clubs, activities, & sports receive very little recognition. Many residents do not know the school offered a particular program.
Starting this year the communication between teachers and parents has improved 10 fold! I can now see exactly how and what my child is doing in each class. In the past I never knew until parent teacher conferences. Being disabled I wasn't always able to make it to those meetings and was not able to help my child stay on top of school assignments or activities. The increased communication through the parent portal has helped me to better communicate with and support my child with her academic achievements. This would have been my major concern but they fixed it and I am very grateful!
Farmington Senior High School is a good place to attend. This high school offers the most types of classes in the area, from multiple math class to mass media productions. Farmington even offers dual credit class to students, giving many a chance to get a head start on earning college credits while experiancing more college style classes. The overall academic side for Farmington is positive thanks to the staff of teachers that care about each individual student's success. The student body has many groups that make it easy for anyone to fit. Farmington Knights Athletics is also good for both the athletes and school. For athletes, the Knights have strong football, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, and basketball teams. While for the school, the student body has very good school spirit as there is usually a strong student section at events. With the good academics, the positive social life at Farmington Senior High School is a bonus!
