In regards to Excelsior Springs School District, I'd have to say I'm pleased with my experience. It takes good people to make good teachers, and I firmly believe that is applied here. The teachers address your needs and attend to them with care and understanding. On behalf of the the way this school runs, an example being the scheduling, I believe it teaches young teens time management, college readiness, and responsibility. The only fault I see is lack of student dedication. A more flexible schedule allows the teens to decide what they do with their time. Even though all are capable, not all utilize.
We have some amazing teachers, but it is difficult to keep them. It is clear that the staff cares about the students, however the administration has made some poor schedule changing decisions lately.
Overall it's been good. Some of the teaching methods the teachers do are not good but overall okay. I have not had a single two consecutive years here be the same. They have changed schedule and administration all through out my high school years. Mrs. Yoakum teaches English and is one of my favorite teachers. Highly recommend her
