Eureka City Schools are the most diverse school district in Humboldt County, considering its small, rural size. They have wonderful music programs, science programs, and electives such as art. Eureka City Schools music programs are amazing. Students advance quickly through the music program, and become stellar musicians. Eureka City Schools have wonderful teachers who help their students in many ways. Another amazing thing about Eureka City Schools is the fact that it located in a small town. This is amazing because you and your classmates already have some form of relationship, whether it be through a certain class, grade, sports team, or just becoming close friends. Eureka City Schools is a wonderful, diverse, and amazing district, and I am so incredibly happy I was able to attend their schools.
The teachers are awesome, but the district and the school board are not. They don’t take people’s words truly and just go with whatever benefits them instead of what could benefit the whole community.
I love Eureka City Schools, but they have moved from putting their students first to athletics. It is shameful that those who are athletes are treated with high respect than those that are not. I was bullies several times and brought it to the attention of their staff. I saw a mass of bullying, and 1 out of 10 times was it dealt with. I do give credit to FFA and Avid for making an impact on a large mass of students. FFA for preparing students for business and interviews. Avid for preparing students for college and making sure that students are achieving their A-G requirements. I also think that the schools should divert their focus back towards its art programs; without creativity and imagination, this is just a school that thinks about its image than education.
